[Previously Satoshi Iwasaki, Edelgard's teacher, had purposefully marked one of her crucial exams low. Unacceptably low, in Edelgard's opinion, and what ensued was a most inappropriate exchange for the marks to be altered. In the end Satoshi had given her an offer. Continue to engage his whims and prosper, or decline and fall into mediocrity. Edelgard insisted she needed time, and... well, she pushes the envelope. There's a lot to consider. Owing your academic career to lewd acts with one's teacher is not her idea of success.

Finally, a few days before the week she had asked for is up, she knocks on his office door. Just ten minutes shy of his office hours ending. Making sure that she'll be the last student he engages for the day should this conversation take a certain turn that might eat up more time than another student is willing to wait.]

[He's inside typing away on his laptop, which is to be expected. He is diligent as far as his work as a Teacher goes. He's making notes and typing up lesson plans for the next few weeks. Without hesitation she takes the seat positioned just opposite of his desk. A spot she has been in before when asking for advice or clarification on an assignment.]

[He looks away from his computer, but doesn't look in her direction just yet. Instead he grabs a pen to scribble something down on the papers next to him that he's working on. He could say it is too late to give him an answer, though would that disappointment her and make her regret not giving in much sooner?

The fact that she's locked the door as well adds even more intrigue to the situation. Even if he decided that it was too late, he's far too curious to do anything other than give her a chance.]

[Edelgard sits properly in the chair. Her legs primly crossed at the ankle so she is modest despite her skirt. Small hands remain diligently folded in her lap. [He takes a moment to absorb that. She thought it over and decided the best course of action was to go along with what he wants. He finally looks up towards her face and places his pen down upon the desk.]

I find your reasoning flawed. Especially considering you did not initiate until after giving me the worst grade I have had in your class. However I will not argue.

[There are three major schools. Lyons College, Blake Eagles College and Goldman-Dearie College. All three incredible schools that would likely be happy to accept a student like her. He has no idea if she plans to apply to one or all three of them, if she's set her sights on any at all.]

[Participation in this event is most an extra credit sort of thing, but there is a prestige with it as well. Students are selected and gathered and tested against their peers. Winning basically gave bragging rights to a school and Satoshi was the one tasked with selecting the students to participate this year.

Of course Edelgard was one he selected. Whether she volunteered or he picked her because he knew she was the best. There can be a relaxation element to this all as well, given that they are all staying in a hotel for the week. But not everyone could find the time to unwind. The first round had wrapped up and everyone is mostly standing around chatting. Satoshi is doing that with Edelgard right now.]

I did my best to prepare you for everything that might be thrown your way. They never tell anyone what is on the tests.
