Sin to Win
Jul. 19th, 2000 09:19 am[Things are a bit different in this AU. Lambert, Anselma, and Ionius were all classmates, with Ionius being a little older than the other two (ala Hubert, Sylvain, Mercedes, etc). The three of them had an unshakeable bond that was strained when both Lambert and Ionius had to take their titles as inheritors of their respective thrones. Anselma ended up marrying Ionius since she lived in the Empire, but often the two would either meet Lambert at his castle, or invite him to the imperial palace for... reconnecting. In the coming years Anselma had two kids not far apart in age. Dimitri sired by Lambert, and Edelgard by Ionius. Dimitri lived in the Kingdom, and Edelgard the Empire. When the imperial couple met Lambert they'd bring their child, and when Lambert would visit he'd bring his.
Ionius and Anselma couldn't visit often, though. Before he was able to take Anselma as a consort he was engaged in an arranged marriage as well as being insisted on taking other consorts just so that he'd have plenty of heirs should something happen. He needed to be around for his family. And so Edelgard and Dimitri only saw each other a few times before becoming old enough to travel on their own. Edelgard was always encouraged to see Lambert and his son because of Anselma's connection with them, so the last few long breaks in schooling she has visited.
This time however Lambert has left to go visit the imperial palace while leaving Dimitri and Edelgard behind. The old man being a bit of a summer traveler since that's when the Kingdom demanded the least of him. Together they have the whole castle to themselves — aside from a few staff, that is. Just a skeleton crew to make sure their needs are met while the rest get to spend time with their families.
Edelgard will spend most of her time in the library. Tucked away deep inside the large, multi-roomed wing of the castle. She lies awkwardly in the ornate, twisting undercarriage of the coffee table by the lounging chaise. Her summer dress hiked up to her thighs from all the ways she's moved to stay comfortable while reading in such an odd spot.]
