Jun. 20th, 2000 08:35 pm[The man who escorts Tomoe from the palace gates to the study is a lithe, pale thing with slick black hair. On their walk to the study he'll ask a few light, probing questions to size up the bard along the way. Hubert towers at 6'2"/188cm, and isn't afraid to use that as an intimidation factor. His voice is also low, shadowy, and he speaks in an unhurried manner that almost feels ominous.
Tomoe is ushered into the study. The walls lined floor to ceiling with bookshelves in any space that's not a window. Of which the windows curtains are drawn; crimson drapes with golden accents. In the middle of the study is a generous coffee table which currently has a map of the continent placed neatly under the glass top. While a silver tray and tea set sit on the table, they're carefully over a neighboring country across the ocean. This leaves the majority of the table for placing little ceramic chess pieces used as symbols for where units are currently placed in each territory. The table is flanked by two luxurious sofas, and at the head of it all is a work desk. Drowning in mountains of paperwork.
Meanwhile the emperor is pulling a book off of a shelf. She's small, just barely inching over five feet, and while the red of her wardress is striking it does not completely make up for her petite form. Yet when she hears Tomoe entering the study she places the book back (a history on Fodlan and the split of the Holy Kingdom and Leicester Alliance). The heart-shaped keyhole cut out on the back of her dress allows her shoulder blades to be seen, and the muscles used to wield her heavy axes are clear when she flexes.
Hubert closes the door, but does not stay in the room with them. When the door locks something shifts — a spell soundproofing the room.]
Good afternoon, [she says without turning to face him.]
